Qualcomm has updated its entry-level mobile platform for the first time in three years, adding LTE-connection and 4G services. The presentation of new Qualcomm 205 was held in New Delhi, where developers were presented SoC capable of up to 150Mbps in 4G, 3G and 2G networks, 2-core 1.1 GHz CPU and Adreno graphics processor. This platform will be integrated into phones sold in India, Latin America and South-East Asia.

Model 205 does not have advanced capabilities of Qualcomm flagship chips, but it supports front and rear 3-megapixel cameras, two SIM cards, 480p VGA display with 60 frames per second and video streaming. Phones with Qualcomm 205 will allow entrepreneurs to easily access financial transactions, as well as use VoLTE and VoWi-Fi. In addition to this, smartphones will be able to work longer on one charge, which is indispensable in rural areas or in places with limited power supply.

The main advantage of the system is that residents in countries such as India and Brazil will be able to use 4G connections by updating 3G or 2G phones for a relatively small fee. The platform is available now, but release on mobile devices is scheduled for Q2 2017.
